Guide - Woodland Marjoram EO
The Story :
Marjoram is a variety of thyme that is mainly found around the Mediterranean basin, on hot, dry and rocky soils, especially in Portugal and Spain. It comes in the form of a small shrub from 40 to 50cm, crowned with beautiful white, pink or purple flowers, and leaves with a sweet smell, somewhat reminiscent of eucalyptus.
It is sometimes called “Thyme of Spain” or “Soft Thyme” and has a strong aromatic power. In Portugal, it is called Bella Luz, “Belle Lumière”, and is used in some traditions in the south of the country as a symbol of luck and happiness. Its Latin name is Silvestris, “wild, from the forest” and Mastichana, a term for resin.
The essential oil of Woodland Marjoram is ideal for relieving respiratory ailments, thanks in particular to its purifying, expectorant and anti-infectious properties.

In infusion: For its tonic and digestive properties.
To do this, mix 3 to 4 drops in a litre of warm, non-boiling water. Indeed, water that is too hot tends to evaporate the essential oil too quickly and could also degrade the essential oil and its components, making it less effective. It is important to dilute the essential oil in honey or on a sugar cube which you will then add in warm water, in order to unify the mixture. Once your preparation is done, you can enjoy your tea for a moment of relaxation, at any time of the day.
Atmospheric diffusion: To clean and purify the atmosphere of your home, but also to create a soothing atmosphere.
Depending on the diffusers and the size of the room, pour between 5 and 30 drops, and allow 30 minutes for a large room and about 15 minutes for a bedroom. In all cases, comply with the instructions for the device used.
In cosmetics: Allows in particular to carry out a relaxing massage and to stimulate digestion.
The essential oil of Marjoram shell is used very diluted in a rich vegetable oil to perform a draining and invigorating massage. Pour 4 drops of essential oil for 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil of your choice and massage gently into the area concerned.
In case of arrhythmias ( and also stress and agitation), mix a drop of Marjoram essential oil + a drop of Mandarin + a drop of Ylang Ylang and massage with this mixture the solar plexus (below the sternum) gently clockwise.
