Guide - Tropical Basil EO

The Story :

The term basil would come from the ancient Greek “basilikon” meaning royal plant, itself derived from the Latin word “basileus” which referred to the king. Ocimum would come from the adjective “okys” prompt, in relation to its rapid growth.

4000 years ago, it was cultivated in India, a sacred plant dedicated to Vishnu and Krishna, it gradually conquered all of Asia, then Egypt and the Near East. In the past, basil was considered a magic plant. The term “basil”, which appeared in the French language in 1120, originally meant a mythical snake that could kill with its own eyes. It was only in 1398 that it was first used to designate herbs.

A powerful protective plant, “the royal herb” is an ally of women. In India, basil is a sacred plant and is not used in food. It was entering the mummification process, as the Egyptians discovered its antibacterial and conservation properties very early on. In the Decameron, Boccaccio tells how Elisabeth, one of his heroines, buried her lover’s head in a basil jar sprinkled with his tears. It is also sometimes called orange tree of flavours, herb with sauces, exotic basil, Indian basil.

Uses & Advices :

In infusion: For its tonic and digestive properties. Tropical basil essential oil also has aphrodisiac properties.

To do this, mix 3 to 4 drops in a litre of warm, non-boiling water. Indeed, too hot water would tend to evaporate the essential oil too quickly and could also degrade the tropical basil essential oil and its components, making it less effective. It is important to dilute the essential oil in honey or on a sugar cube which you will then add in warm water, in order to unify the mixture. Once your preparation is done, you can enjoy your infusion for a moment of relaxation, at any time of the day

Atmospheric diffusion: To clean and purify the atmosphere of your home, but also to create a relaxing atmosphere.

Depending on the diffusers and the size of the room, pour between 5 and 30 drops, and allow 30 minutes for a large room and about 15 minutes for a bedroom. In all cases, comply with the instructions for the device used.

In cosmetics: In particular, it soothes insect bites.

Tropical Basil essential oil is used very diluted in a rich vegetable oil to perform a massage that stimulates concentration and dissipates anxiety and stress. Pour 4 drops of essential oil for 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil of your choice and massage gently into the area concerned.
